February 13 Expecting Relief attended Social Services Day in Albany NY The Capital Advocating to improve Maternal & Infant Health with the 2023 Legislative Strategy and Advocating for the Funding Request.

We respectfully submitted a request for $1.25 million to bolster the capacity of 16 local and regional diaper banks across New York State. There continues to be an unprecedented demand for diaper bank services in New York State, yet no State funds have been provided directly to these organizations who are on the front lines connecting families with the diaper resources they need. The influx of immigrants particularly in New York City has added to the request for diapers and strained some of these smaller diaper banks to their limits. This appropriation would provide an estimated 4 million diapers that would be able to directly impact 6,800 families per month.

Expecting Relief will be working along National Diaper Bank Network bringing awareness to elected officials. Our goals is to introduce new legislation, and re-introduce bills from the previous Congress, related to material basic necessities for individuals, children and families. Updates will be posted here once they become available. NDBN encourages interested advocates to review current bills in Congress as well as materials from previous years. New information is posted as it becomes available.

We Can Do This Campaign
Expecting Relief is participating in the "We Can Do This" U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s COVID-19 Public Education Campaign to get accurate information about COVID vaccines into communities.
“Now that vaccines are approved and recommended for children starting at six months, we want to make sure that the families we serve have access to up-to-date information to help them make the best decisions for their babies,” said Vanessa Bracetty-Ormsby Founder/Executive Director of Expecting Relief.
In 2022, families served by Expecting Relief received information about COVID vaccines for young children along with every package of diapers.
